Narya wrapped the leather reigns of her horse around one hand, and let the other rest at her side. "The High Elves won't follow us." she said, her eyes fixed on the road ahead. The sun was slowly rising, and bright rays of yellow light flashed aross the landscape towards them.
"My father has already failed to capture you three times. He will not risk that humiliation again. His pride runs too deep. Luckily." She glanced across to Astal for a moment, a small smile playing on her lips, then looked forward again.

"Well that's good," Astal said, though he grinned soon after as he urged his horse along. "Though I'm slightly dissapointed," he added lightly, glancing across to Narya for a moment. "I was hoping to escape him again. It may not do much for his pride, but it'll do wonders for mine."
His grin lingered for a good while, and would only fade into a wide smile and nothing less. He was quite pleased with the fact that he'd managed to get off the hook over and over again in those sorts of situations, though most of his escape sucesses required him to pay tribute to both Narya and Thoron, who had helped him out on each occaision greatly.

Narya laughed, glad to see him smile again. He had been much to worried of late. "You me disappointed, but I am rather relieved. I am not so confident on your escape tactics. After all, we Elves are more cunning than you simple minded mortals. Who knows if you will be able to slip through their nets again?"

"Well, I have more experience in the matter than they do," Astal claimed, though he was probably not entirely correct. "I'm used to slipping through people's fingers at the last moment... I could escape earlier of course... but I just drag it out for dramatic effect," he replied through a laugh. Their pace had slowed, as the group seemed to realise that there was now little threat to them that Sarac had gone, and the High Elves were no longer chasing them. "Though I think you're right," he added with a smile. "Perhaps its best if I don't get caught at all."

"Indeed." Her glance once against strayed to him. He always seemed to draw her gaze. "At least it would save me a lot of worrying." Narya let a soft smile settle on her fair features, and she turned her attention to the road ahead. Her horse skipped over a rock, causing her cloak to sway gently across her back. "Do we have any idea where we're going?" she called ahead to Agarnen. "We cannot wander aimlessly for much longer."

Agarnen looked back over his shoulder, his hat, as usual, casting his features in a dark shadow.
"I think we are headed to Tyris," he called back, holding his reins in one hand as he looked to Narya. "And then we shall be riding on to Abolorn.... where we stop, depends on where you all want to live..."
He paused at that comment and cast his eyes to Illoth and Thoron, who rode between he, Cait, and Narya and Astal. He then glanced back to Narya, his horse leading the way with its own eyes. "Where would you like to go?"

They rode for several days, keeping in a close line and only stopping when they had to. Only when Agarnen was absolutely sure that they were no longer being followed did he slow down, and at that point it was only because the horses were tiring.
The weather did not stay as fine as he would have wished it to. Clouds began to gather the third day in, rolling with great bruises across the sky. There was a torrential downpour that night; leaving the tents and their clothes sodden by the time that morning came, and even then the pale sun did little to warm them. Astal guessed that it was because they were reaching the end of one season and entering into the next, which was unfortunately going to be much colder than the last.

The landscape they passed that day was much flatter than before, though as night approached Agarnen became certain that they would soon reach the borders of Tyris. Little did he know that there were people looking for them there, hoping to hunt down the remanding members of the Black Serpent in order to claim the overly generous rewards; but right then such a thought did not cross his mind. Their horses trudged slowly up a steep muddy bank of a hill as the black sky rolled over them above. When finally they came to its brink they were confronted with a long line of yellow lights, the source of fires glowing through the windows of homes on the horizon. A large wall circled the stone city. They had at last come to Tyris.

THE END
